3.2.2.6	Lighting
	Requirements
3.2.2.6.1	Adequate Lighting shall be provided for all work areas.
3.2.2.6.2	All bulbs and strip lights, including those on electric fly killer units, where they constitute a risk to products, shall be protected by shatterproof plastic diffusers, sleeve covers or with a shatterproof protective coating. For high temperature lights, where plastic covers are not visible, a fine mesh metal screen shall be fitted. Where full protection cannot be provided, the glass managment system shall take this into account.

3.5	Maintenance
	A system of planned maintenance shall be in place covering all items of equipment and plant which are critical to product safety, legality and quality.
	Requirements
3.5.1	When commissioning new equipment and plant, a maintenance programme shall be established and put into place based on risk assessment.
3.5.2	The company shall ensure that the safety or legality of product is not jeopardised during maintenance operations.
3.5.3	Where temporary repairs are made, these shall be controlled to ensure the safety or legality of product is not jeopardised. These temporary measures shall be permanently repaired as soon as practicable.
3.5.4	Cleaning or replacing light fittings, glass or brittle plastics shall be done in a manner that will minimise the potential for product contamination.

I General requirements for food premises (other than those specified in Chapter III)

7. Food premises must have adequate natural and/or artificial lighting (article 14).

Shatterproof light fittings (or covered with a shatterproof shield) only are to be in areas where foods are present. Light intensity must be such to permit the safe handling, inspection and processing of food. Light intensity must also be sufficient to allow adequate cleaning cleaning of the premise and included accessories.

(2) Assured Combinable Crop Scheme (ACCS)

“Producers must have a strategy in place to maintain crop hygiene during post harvest handling and storage. Ideally crops should be stored in dedicated facilities. All potential storage and holding sites must be critically assessed and prepared to use in good time before harvest. The suitability or otherwise of a site must be considered in relation to the potential hazard to the crop. This will depend on the length of time that the grain will remain in site and on a range of site specific factors.”

The scheme states that Non-glass dust covers much be used to protect electric lighting.
